A company on a mission!
The evolution of Keep In Mind, Inc.
Most would describe me as a creative free spirit.
After graduating from Marquette University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism; I was fortunate to work the next ten years in sports talk radio. From producer to reporter to on-air talent; I climbed the media ladder from Milwaukee thru Charlotte to New York City.
Life changed immensely after the September 11th, 2001 attacks. I left New York with a heavy heart and landed back in Wisconsin where I transitioned into Senior Living. My first job was an Activity Assistant in a skilled nursing home. Within months, I’d gone from the sidelines of the NFL to planning activities for those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. A unique transition, for sure.
However, in a short amount of time, I discovered that my creative free spirit was exactly what my ‘new audience’ needed. What seemed like a strange career transition to many, made perfect sense to me. Over the next decade, I was blessed to have employers who recognized my potential and supported me thru extensive continuing education opportunities.
A second career that began in Activities evolved into roles that included; Director of Adult Day Services with the Lutheran Home, Director of Alzheimer’s education for the Alexian Brothers Health System and Divisional Director of Memory Care for Atria Senior Living. As a Divisional Director, I was responsible for supporting 24 memory care communities that spanned 11 states and served nearly 500 residents.
Although I’m proud and grateful for my professional successes in Dementia care; once again, this free spirit needed to spread her wings. I wanted to build a business where I could deliver effective Dementia Care solutions for both families and professionals with a Holistic Philosophy.
One size does NOT fit all! After observing our current care methods from the inside of the industry, I felt it was critical to introduce a more comprehensive holistic approach to the marketplace. Dementia care should be customized and personalized to meet the ever-changing needs of those we serve.
In 2011 my vision became reality and Keep In Mind, Inc. was born. Within weeks, a Texas based professional provider hired me to bring operational support and guidance to their portfolio of nearly 30 Memory Care communities. In 2013, we introduced Caregiving 411, a workplace wellness initiative designed to bring family care support directly to those who balance career and care duties.
In addition, my professional and personal worlds have merged, now that I’m an adult child providing care support to my father with a mixed Dementia diagnosis. It is now my honor to advocate and care for the man who has impacted and guided my life; by utilizing holistic principles and methods.
Our motto: Keep Your Eye on Keep In Mind, Inc.! We look forward to the opportunity of growing and serving more Dementia Caregivers thru advocacy, education and consulting.
